Tara's Black Rhinoceros Research Journal

This blog contains all of my research for drawing and learning about the Black Rhinoceros. All of the links that these pictures and films come from can be found in each post. I warn you that some of them are very disturbing and not for young children. The future of the rhinoceros is very bleak. Unfortunately most or all of these rhinos are being raised in captivity or they are orphaned and living on reserves. Let's hope they can be saved and thrive again in the wild.

Here I am double checking my rhino antatomy. They have the funniest mouths! They have no front teeth and use their canines for self defence.

Why Do I keep a journal of reference?

It's simple really. When I illustrate anything I like to have tons of reference. If you understand what you are drawing and don't copy from your sources then you can make something original. I also like to give credit to where my information comes from and this is an excellent way to do just that! Keep exploring everyone and stay tuned for my next book! All the best, Tara.
